What is this? Found in Half $ Roll

It is the size of a half dollar. Weight is 8.6 grams.
It cost me 50 cents.
What is it and what is it worth?

it's French (Napoleon Empire)... looks just like the gold pieces, but yours is silver :thumbup:

France 10 centimes - Napoleon III. The mint mark is on lower reverse.

Worth maybe 50c in this condition, maybe less. F-VF coins sell for around $7.50 on EBAY, better condition much more. :wave:

Bronze. It must be pretty worn out, because the coin is supposed to weigh 10 grams.

I see these a lot in dealer junk bins. Keep in mind France already had a population of 30-40 million people when this was made and there was no such thing as credit cards, so there were lots of coins floating around. So unfortunately, not nearly as good as finding a US coin from the same era.
