The Quadruple Play

This forum is for discussing hunting and collecting US and Canadian circulation Silver Bullion Coins, other types of minted bullion, and other types of precious and base metal investments other than Bullion Pennies and Nickels.

The Quadruple Play

Postby HPMBTT » Sat Feb 15, 2014 5:38 pm

I have been meaning to post for awhile actually....

In 2012, I had the triple play happen to me while coin roll hunting: from CWR halves, I actually got a Walker, Franklin, 64 Kennedy at the same time. Then a couple months ago in Dec 2013, I pulled off what I thought was the impossible: The quadruple play. Can anyone guess what that might be??

(Guess here before reading below)

.......................

Yep, some guy dumped a bunch of halves and 40 big dollar coins at the same time. From the big dollar coins, there was one silver dollar: a 1922 Peace Dollar! :) From fifty dollars in halves, I pulled all three again: a Walker, Franklin and 1964 Kennedy half dollar. :) This was right before Christmas in 2013. I'm still amazed that someone would dump something like this today, especially with more folks becoming aware. Anyway....I have the photos to prove it; however, I just noticed that both photobucket and imageshack.us no longer let you post for free (you must register/sign up), so I have nowhere to post the photos. If you guys have another alternate website where I can post without registering, let me know, would you? I would be happy to post the photos. Thanks!

So has anyone else had the Triple Play or the Quadruple Play happen to them while roll searching? Would love to hear your story!

Hey, my 500th post. Sweet! It looks like I have now officially graduated from Penny Collector to Penny Hoarding Member. :)

Sweet finds! You can post pictures directly here (and have been able to for some time). You'll have to downsize the pictures though as most digital cameras are taking giant sized images. You'll want to get it down to something like 640x480. Go to full editor, then click the upload attachment tab, browse for the picture file, click "add the file", then click "place inline".

Most ISPs provide their customers with some free web space, the downside is everything
(usually) disappears if you ever change ISPs or if they close down.

If you like I can give you some web/FTP space on moonie.ca, just private message me
with what you'ld like for your username and password and I'll set you up a login. Basically
suitable for images or text files, just no video or porn allowed as those chew up
unreasonable amounts of bandwidth. ^_-

Advantages over photobucket and imageshack.us, no weird java junk that makes it
difficult for people to save pictures, just ordinary FTP and HTTP that works with all
browsers. Downside is you'll have to explain to people you aren't a cult member when
they see the domain name. :D

Well, my guess was wrong. I thought that if the triple was the Walking Liberty, the Franklin, and the 64 Kennedy, then the quadruple had to include the Barber half. I'm getting really good at this being wrong thing. Just ask my wife!
