In Canada, silver quarters are a rarity in circulation. Good for you.

Wild Indians are easier to find than silver quarters.

I expect to find some silver quarters in my mailbox as a result of the March Madness pool that OtusLotus is managing.

Congrats! I've only found one ever, it was in the change given to me at my work's cafeteria.

Ironically enough, a silver quarter was one of my easiest finds. Early on when I was just a few months into my hobby, I was visiting my parents and thought I would dump out their change jar and sort out to copper pennies. Now this wasn't some old change jar from 1972, this is the jar that they throw their loose change in every day, and when they need change for a gallon of milk or a parking meter down town, they scoop a hand full of change and use it for what they need, so it never has more than maybe $10-20 in it. But lo and behold I looked down into it and right on the top face up is a 1964 quarter! Go figure.
Pennies: $4200 - (0) indians - (5)steel - (1) George V Canadian
Nickels: $6500 - (62)war - (23)buf - (1)V nic - (4) key date jeff's
Dimes: $5000 - (24)roos - (2)merc - (2)AgCAN
Halves: $8000 - (7)'64 - (33)40% - (1)walker

Congrats on your find! My last silver quarter find was at a McDonalds in Oklahoma City 4 years ago. I was able to get 1 silver quarter in change, then I went back and asked for more change and ended up with 3 more silver quarters. :D

A friend of mine gave me a book to read a while back called "The Great Silver Melt" and in that book it listed the 1964 as the most common silver coin still out their in circulation.

Finding a silver quarter in circulation is like winning $500 on a $1 scratcher. Congrats.
