1 oz generic copper round brings $14.11 on ebay. (UPDATE)

Last week I posted a thread where an ebay (high) bidder paid an astounding $92 for a 1 oz generic silver incuse indian round manufactured by The Golden State mint--the same round that can be purchased today at Provident metals for just $21.45.

Well yesterday I came across another astounding bid where an ebay (high) bidder paid a whopping $14.11 (plus $2.50 shipping) for a 1 oz generic copper Walking Liberty round also manufactured by The Golden State mint--the same round can also be purchased today at Provident metals for $1.49

I put parenthesis around the word (high) in each case because both bidders apparently were "high" on something when they placed their bids

***UPDATE: He just sold another one today with a high bid of $10.50 (plus $2.50 shipping)--looks like he's got a pretty good gig going on--someone might want to move in on the niche he's found. Instead of listing these rounds in the bullion section he instead lists them under U.S. Coins>Dollars>Mixed Lots. He also states in his listings that they are for (24 hours only).

When it comes time to pay up, they may be NARUs.

Our coin club show last Saturday had generic copper rounds for $1.25 each, which is realistic for just one, but is still $20 #.

Makes me suspicious when it says, "private listing - bidders' identities protected" when you look at the bid history...

completely strange... i can't believe that these auctions are real.. I bet then are a ruse by the seller with his/her friends to bid up the auction to see if they can get a sucker to place a bid and then drop it on them....

I wonder if it is possible to see if these two auctions actually were completed (paid) or if they were cancelled.

Maybe the seller's feedback would show something, if the item number is not hidden too

I complete around 300 transactions a month as a seller on eBay, and this doesn't surprise me. Sometimes an item sells for an extreme premium of what it's worth, all it take is two people in a bidding war.

I agree. I sold some copper rounds a while back. Often they wouldn't attract a bid. But occasionally a couple or more bidders would go crazy. They always left positive feedback about how wonderful they were too.
