May not be greeted too kindly by TSA if you have $1k in coin going through security.

"Honestly officer, I am a coin collector and I will be going thru those coins to look for rare coins."

Then again, I've had a few experiences with coin and TSA; I had a baggie full of sorted Japanese Yen coins and I took them with me on the carryon bag cause I didn't feel safely putting it in check-in. The TSA folks re-screened my bag twice and let me go on my way. Then there was the time I had a sealed up Priority Mail Small box full of some coins and I put it into the check-in box cause I didn't have time to run to the PO in my area (it was early morning) and figured I'll just send it out when I arrive at my destination. It somehow tripped TSA off as I got my box with the INSPECTED tape. Surprisingly enough, they didn't open it. Or get stolen. Guess TSA is afraid of the wraith of the USPS.

TSA searches me all the time for refusing to go through the full body metal detector so that doesn't bother me. This getting stuff stolen does bother. Hmm...no TD bank in Puerto Rico. Should I break the golden rule and deposit the unwanted coins back to my uncle? Should I ship back home through USPS with insurance?

Maybe one of the older casinos still has half dollar slots? Could use their counter.

I just ran boxes of mexican coin through airport security - netted me a good hand search. BTW dumping mexican coin in quantity is tough even when you have a mexican account with HSBC Premier. Not worth the hassle, lost money on the whole deal by time I paid a money exchanger to handle it.

Things may have changed but I used one of these years and years ago when I was a young dumb college kid and had a brand new zero balance card. It was the first thing that I used. And I used it Immediately. I was charged a percentage fee even though I paid it off well before the term allowed. Ever since they all go to the shredder. But who knows maybe things have changed. Good luck!

I get my free silver from Capital one by using their card and getting 1.5% back on everything I buy. I pay the balance every month so I never pay interest and when I have enough cash back I buy silver with it. Last year they bought me a tube of eagles.

Most excellent. Maybe we should trade the miles card in for a cash back and go that route. Now I just have to convince the wife we don't need to travel, hehe.

Gears are turning.... Thanks.
