National Refiners-Assayers - Anyone know the history?

Postby Copper Catcher » Sun Jun 28, 2015 3:14 pm

I have seen a few National Refiners-Assayers silver bars lately and just wondered if anyone knew the history on them? I guess much like Engelhard they are probably no longer producing silver bars. :?:

Great question as I have a few of these myself and I see them in the generic Art box every once in awhile. I started picking them up but when trying to flip there wasn't much of a market for me at least. If you or other find out differently let me know as I will grab them

I have seen mostly the one ounce version but I think they made some ten ounce as well. I think they are from Canada but not totally sure.

There was a National in USA and a National in Canada... I am pretty sure they were not the same company. The National bars with the the Maple Leaf are significantly more common. The US National bars are not as nicely designed. I have some laying around here somewhere... whenever I come across them again and remember this thread, I'll post some pics.
