Can someone help me understand what or how to calculate the trending x face cost of silver please. It's always a PITA to see the x face prices vs spot as it goes up and down.

The accepted standard is .715 ounces per $1 face of 90% silver coins.

Spot as I type this is $16.50 per ounce.

You take .715 x $16.50 = $11.80 per $1 face of 90% silver for spot. So 11.8x is spot.

The premium on 90% varies by lots of reason. Halves generally carry more of a premium then dimes and quarters. Mercs generally carry more of a premium then roosies.

The price of silver and the demand in the 90% market also controls the premiums. Generally the higher silver is the lower the premium. This isn't in all cases but that is what the trend has been in the past.

also helpful on coinflation.com is the physical silver premium

located at the top right corner under the quotes under the search bar

these are wholesale premium bid/ask prices on $1000 face lots

interesting to see the spread widen at times

Thx guys for taking the time to explain and break it all down for me.It's much appreciated. I got to a silver guy today and he wanted 14x face for halves.Seeing coinflation.com prices I see $2 over spot .Does that sound like a reasonable trend or is that high retail?Coinflation.com says abut 5%premium so that's about .70 over spot per $1 Right? 11.80 +.70=12.50 per face @spot with the premium ..Correct?

14x is higher than you would pay on RC, whether this month or any other recent month. 12.5 - 13.8 is the range I've seen recently.
