Site traffic

I think this has been covered before, but where is everyone?? I don’t post much but have lurked since ~2008. Back then this site was buzzing with posts and discussion. Traffic just seems to be minimal recently, especially considering these big moves. Am I missing something? Is there somewhere else that everyone went?
Soooo... Is it just me or is a chart of US debt looking dangerously parabolic?

I think most are on Bullionstacker as well. There seems to be more activity over there, but I read all posts on both sites. The other forums I am on are also slow and I think that some of the folks have left for social media sites. I dont do social media but are there coin specific groups on social media?

I would whole-heartily agree. Social media coin sites are a little scary. Seems almost weekly there are posts from someone getting scammed.
There are several from here and B.S. that are on my social sites selling, maybe they can comment on their experience selling?

A few years ago Google decided to diminish forums in their search results in favor of Reddit. Most forums - on any topic - have suffered "the withering" as a result.

I feel like Bullionstacker traffic is way down as well.

I agree. The core members are still posting but new members are rare.

I agree with everything said here. I don't frequent bullionstacker but I will check it out now and then. I do miss the tangible "buzz" that used to be here. I started "lurking" here in 2009 then joined in 2010. That was 14 years ago. Time and age have caught up to many folks here and we haven't seemed to have added much new blood (see previous posts re:reddit etc.). I offer no answers nor do I offer any advice on how to improve realcent. I love this site and despite the fact that I have never personally met any of you, I consider you all friends, if only in a cyber sense. Maybe when the public really gets into a big move in the metals we will see a pick up in activity here. Until then, enjoy the company, the banter and the information from the core group here.

And keep stacking.

I wonder if information overload could be a part of it.

There is just SO MUCH INFORMATION out there that it is often hard to sift through it all and pick out the key points. As I get older time is much more precious, yet info is that much more voluminous. Sad combo, and it forces me to avoid reading some posts that are likely very informative.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

I think the dynamic of it all shifted sometime in the 2015ish era. Most people do groups on Social media I am thinking. I know with me I just dont really have time for coins anymore, and only really talk to one of the memebers on the regular. It was a habbit that I fell out of doing and its been hard to find my way back. Glad to see there is still some activity here.

I've collected coins (mostly Ag) since the 70's, but the main reason I came here was to see how many ppl were hoarding Cu pennies. Turns out it was a lot more than I thought. I've been around since the old forum, but I was a lurker back then.

My hardcore Cu penny hoarding days began to wane around 2016/17 when the amount of skunk boxes I was getting increased dramatically. Once in a while I get the scoop on a friend/relative that has a large jar of coins and I'll route through it. I still save all Cu pennies I receive in change which is only about 5-10%. Sometimes I get lucky and get 20-30%, but these days that's rare.
Time is precious, stop wasting it.

When I first joined I was among the youngest here, I had watched the old forum but actually joined here, I think its just an age thing, Younger people like social media not forums, Personally Ive always liked forums better because you can more easily express full thoughts. Ive long been sad we lost so many to bullion stackers. I dont know forums will attract to many younger stackers even with major price moves. I just hope we keep up our honest trades up through the dynamic change. The friendship as well.

I've been a member here for almost 3.5 years. I notice that there are still a lot of VISITORS (does that count as site traffic? ). However, there is not much in the way of people logging in and/or posting. I am wondering if "election" time will boost site traffic. It should do that for at least a few weeks.

Also, this is a thread that might be worth revisiting in a few years from now.

While certainly not as lively as it was during its heyday, I'd say today's Realcent is much more alive and active than it was during other doldrums. Always good to see folks like Neil chime in.

Corsair!!! even saying your moniker, i see one of the greatest US warbirds in US Naval aviation history , the F4U Corsair, and then i think of the F4 Phantom, another beautiful airframe, whoever designed that beauty?....i have fond memories of being a teenager, USN, circa 78-80, laying in my rack at night, the barracks abutted the runway in Korea, zero dark hunnerd, and two Phantoms would be ready to go aloft on a CAP, combat air patrol, and then they would kick the afterburners in on takeoff...oh boy!! loved it, serious, i was both appreciative AND envious at the same time, [shucks] i wanted to strap in too, but my mission was quite engrossing...point being that thunderous roar, made me feel safe, Corsair.
Silver doesnt make me feel "safe", but it makes me feel comfortable, because its SAVINGS, and saving is better than being in debt, debt is slavery...yeh buddy, sure is, and to that end, one night, i just got in a buying mood, bought 20 face of gem bu 54p wash's, 10 face of gem bu 53p wash's, and a 25 toz roll of 'chuckies', thats what i call the new maple, charles the third?....geez, guy marries that beautiful Diane, and prefers that other gal?....anyway, with his cancer thing?....know what i'm saying?
[shucks], i miss Korea...keep your eye on it, thats the black swan brother....God love you for that nice welcome, neil
