Gold, Walmart Gift Card

So I see online that Walmart sells gold and silver bullion. Well, actually Apmex sells gold and silver bullion through Walmart. Here's my question: Has anyone here ever used a Walmart gift card to buy gold or silver at Walmart? I can't find anything saying that a walmart gift card is prohibited but just looking for anyone's experience here.

Background: I saw a post in the members only forum by hirbonzig that he found a fractional gold eagle in his workplace rewards catalog and bought it. Going on his experience, I searched my own workplace catalog (where I have accumulated 15 years worth of points) and unfortunately could not find and coins/bullion. I did, however see that I can turn my points in for Walmart gift cards (and other stores too). I could get a pretty good amount of walmart gift cards based on my points but I didn't want to cash in my points for the gift cards if I couldn't use them to buy the gold eagles I am seeing for sale at Walmart (from Apmex).

Thoughts appreciated.
