I hope the Paul father & son team don’t get JFK’d over this critical effort.

recap of the subject. Nothing new.

To me, the question isn't whether there is gold in the vault. Its whether its real (or gold plated tungsten) and how many claims there are to each bar. You can see from the photos from the 70s it was impossible to inventory each bar.

I'd thought about this coming up when DOGE has reported "finding missing taxpayer money".

Let's hope this actually goes somewhere!

Musk responded to the post with: 'Surely it's reviewed at least every year?' This guy is so out of the loop.

Well unlike the DOGE activities, where the US can stop payments or maybe claw some back, an audit of Fort Knox is only likely to result in bad news or neutral news. Its not like they are going to find gold there they didn't know about. More likely, the gold is all there but most of it has 10 or 100 claims on it.

Separately, the Fed has been losing money the last couple of years. Its owned privately, but by law they have to turn over the profits to US Treasury (at least any in excess of the return on the 10-year Treasury bond). With interest rates rising, they were sitting on a ton of below market bonds just like Sillicon Valley Bank. Cumulative losses like that result in negative equity.

If Trump were to mark the gold to market, that would write up the gold to like $800 billion which would plug the hole on the right hand side of the balance sheet and allow for sales to buy Bitcoin.

Agreed. You think a guy like him would be more knowledgeable about this subject. Ran Paul will school him.

Whether or not he's aware of the US gold audit issues, he's South African by birth, and has been laser focused on tech for the past 20 years, so I would not expect him to know these issues. But he's smart enough and with very nearly unlimited resources such that if he feels he needs to, he'll become more knowledgeable than anyone of us on the topic very quickly.

Not sure if he was serious or not, but his comments have created a lot of momentum:

Thanks! I guess we're too busy talking about fake tariffs to give attention to old promises.
