Derik, I had to log in to get a number. It also gave me a Web Pin # to use when I call
I don't know what number you have
It also lists this: For technical questions 1-800-852-1973

It doesn't sound right to me either. I just logged on to Paypal with no problems. Maybe run a virus scan on your your computer and try to enter Paypal through a differewnt computer?

But the message said that you were randomly selected. If they thought my account had been breached I would expecct a phone call; not a suspicious email.
Anyway, I hope you cleared it up.

I hope you did not give them any information. Sounds like you have something undesirable in your computer. Microsoft? See if you can reach a virus scanner. (A hacked "hosts" file will prevent you doing that.)

sounds like you have a redirect of some sort. what is the web address when you seen the screen?
check in your browser to see if you have a proxy of some sort set. sure sign of a malware.

They are just trying to phish you. I get them all the time for banks I don't even have accounts with. Just ignore it... or if you want to have fun fill out all the info with fake crap and submit it.

This wasn't an email guys, he got it on PayPal's website when he logged in. Always make sure you are on the genuine PayPal site and have a secure connection (in FireFox the address bar turns green). If you make a typo in the url there are phishing sites that will try to get you, but PayPal legitimately does those checks on occasion too.

I agree with some of the others that it sounds phishy. I would not click anything on that page until independent verification from another means. I suggest google'ing some of the phrases and see what others have posted or commented about such screens. If it is a fake page, even a phone number on it could be fake, so I like your idea of getting the contact info from someone independent, such as a poster on this forum.

I would go and clear out your cookies.. and then try and log in again...
a cookie is placed in your temp internet files so you can get to a certain website quicker...
internet explorer icon on desktop, right click, properties, browsing history ..delete.. check all that you want to delete. restart comp.. try again
good luck
