Scored junk silver below melt at local coin show

Postby Pennysaved » Sun Mar 27, 2011 4:23 pm

There was a local coin show at the Elks club in downtown Scottsdale

I always look through the dealer's trays and look for coins below melt

At one booth I was able to buy:

1943 AU walker $9.50
1945 AU walker $9.50
1945D XF walker $9
7 AG to G Barber halves ranged from $8.50 to $9.50
6 AG to G Barver quarters ranged $3.75 to $4.50

Thought I did really good on the AU Walkers

Good show. Nice silver pickups. On common walkers unless you're in Mint State (or BU) you're not going fetch a collectors premium in this market.

So the heck with the grades, the fact you got silver that much under spot is a bruahahaha of a deal. That's a backup the truck price there. Well played.

Beat the pants off me. I only saw some war nickels going for between $1 and $1.50 over the weekend. Maybe a dozen at most. Not even worth busting them out of the flips. Hats off to you Pennysaved though.

Nice score.

I only managed to trade some BIE 55S cents for 2 proof 64 Kennedy halves and a wild toned 55S cent.

Very nice pick ups. I wish I had coin shows around me. I'm stuck with buying on the internet for the most part.
