Picked up 10+ oz at a good price today..........

at a pawn shop. Five morgans, six Franklins, four Walkers, twelve Washingtons, 18 Roosies.....total of $14.80 face for $200 total. :D The girl behind the counter started at $225, I countered $175, she met in the middle. She later admitted paying 8x face earlier today for them. Its the second time I've bought at a good price at this pawn shop. Its in a crappy area of town that I only go through a couple times a month if I-4 is packed and I take backroads home. I may have to stop in weekly.......

She only paid 8X. That is ripping off the seller.

Pawn shops are not a place to sell to. I went to one and overheard a girl trying to sell them a toolbox for a full size truck. They didn't want it. I meet her and her husband in the parking lot and bought it for $80.00. Same toolbox sells for $600.00 new. The shop could have bought it and made a quick profit. I guess they just deal in what they think they can move.

I would stop by often and see what they have, maybe even leave your number so they can call when they buy more.

Around here, the only things I find are Morgans and Peace for 24 (when silver was 19 toz) I asked the worker if he would sell me this and everything that comes in at melt, he said he thought peope are losing out for selling the peace and morgans for less than 24. I guess if people are buying them at that price......

Also went back and he had different inventory so others must buy at a premium.

Yeah - the other shops I've checked around here rarely have silver, and when they do, its at a retarded premium, usually 10-20% higher than a coin shop. A couple of them actually told me they have a deal with a local coin shop to sell them all of the silver/gold they take in.

I snagged three uncirculated Maria Theresa Thalers yesterday for only £11.50 ($18.12) each BIN which I think it pretty good considering they usualy run to about £19 on eBay UK.

Nice looking coins. :)

Never see any coins in pawn shops here whcih is a shame, though to be fair we haven't really had easy to acquire silver in the public domain here in England for a long time...

Does the UK charge a VAT on silver bullion only, or does it extend to old silver coins of the realm like Shillings, Florins, and Crowns???

VAT on Bullion only. I believe the legislation should technically exclude all coins with a face-value as they are "legal tender", so I really don't believe I should be paying VAT on ASE or Maple, but have yet found anyone able to confirm this and/or help me challenge it.

No one should be paying taxes on any gold or silver. Its real money. You don't pay taxes when you trade 10 ten dollars bills for a 100 dollar bill. The gov't is just a bunch of thieves.

It's like, do you pay taxes on buying stocks? Only when you sell them.
