Only a small segment of the population will ever care or understand about PM regardless of what happens.

I get fractional gold - it is as old as gold coins are. But very small fractional silver (which I own some) is illogical to me.

You make a good point. It IS illogical right now, but the whole concept of stacking predicates that it won't be... someday

I love the 1 gram gold bars. And give and 10 gram too. And of course one ounce bars. hehehe :)

But for fractional .999 silver I don't think you can beat stuff like these:

They are getting pretty common to see and have reasonably low premiums, while also having the barter angle covered.

I've not a huge fan of fractionals but I own a few pieces: 1/4oz NORFEDs, 20g YPS, 50g YPS, and a 1g generic.

I LOVE the new MapleGrams. Beautiful rounds and packaging.

IMO, not worth the extra premium.

90% dimes are fractional enough for me. One 90% dime is 1/14th of an ounce.

I'm still amazed that the fractional coins have taken off as rapidly as they have. This coin the 1/10 eagle looks great but I'm still a purest when it comes to my bullion  .....one ounces at a minimum.

Tiny silvers? 1920 and earlier Canadian five cent pieces 1.167 g.

The 1920 is 80% and all 1919 and earlier are .925 sterling.

There were quite a few made from 1910 to 1919.

I totally agree with the idea of serial numbers. It doesn't guarantee a thing, but it does make me feel more comfortable about my investments.

Agreed! I buy them when I can find them at LCS's or Coin & Jewelry shops. When I do, I pay cash with no name or address on the receipt, but have them put the serial numbers on the receipt. That way I can have something proving where I bought them. One LCS wanted to know why and I told them if anyone ever questions that they're real, I know I can at least sell them back to the place I bought them.

I haven't bought any of the fractional bars, but I think they're a good idea and having a few couldn't hurt if the premium makes sense (not too high).

...and a reasonable premium if you buy the 25 pack! I noticed those on the Kitco site
a few days ago.

Just bought another tube of 1/2 ounce sunshine fractional. Don't typically buy this but since this thread started up this has been my only two purchases.

When you're building a scale model castle on your dining room table using 10oz and 1oz silver bars, the 1g bars come in handy as floor tiles, shingles and drawbridge planks.

All Hail The Sickness Lives!
Can anybody tell me if Kurr is still making his unique 1 gram and 5 gram silver fractional bars. I haven't seen them being offered here as of late and I really like to stack those little morsels as well.
Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Just to let the members know. Cost averaging Valcambi Suisse silver 1 gram bars is still going on. I still make my small purchase when possible on feebay. When the math is right. 12 - 1 gram bars @.95 each. Oh the sickness. Oh the madness. Into the little velvet bag the grams due march.

Kurr where are you? The Valcambi Suisse is running away with the race, while the A & M bars lag behind. ;)
