Hi,
I am a new member!! From Mass.

I am confused as to which versions of Ike Dollars are 40% Silver. According to Coinflation these have a melt of over $7

Are all Ike Proof Dollars from 71-76 40% Silver?

If so, are these worth stocking up on, for silver value, or do they not sell as well do to them not being 90%

cam

I appreciate your answers!!

40% IKE DOLLARS

1971-S - ALL OF THESE ARE 40% SILVER (CIRCULATION AND PROOF STRIKES)
1972-S - ALL OF THESE ARE 40% SILVER (CIRCULATION AND PROOF STRIKES)
1973-S - SOME ARE CLAD AND SOME ARE 40% SILVER (CLADS ARE ALL PROOFS; 40% SILVERS ARE CIRCULATION AND PROOF STRIKES)
1974-S - SOME ARE CLAD AND SOME ARE 40% SILVER (CLADS ARE ALL PROOFS; 40% SILVERS ARE CIRCULATION AND PROOF STRIKES)
1976-S - SOME ARE CLAD AND SOME ARE 40% SILVER (CLADS ARE ALL PROOFS; 40% SILVERS ARE CIRCULATION AND PROOF STRIKES)

ALL OTHER DATES/MINTMARKS/PROOFS, NOT INCLUDING THE ABOVE, ARE CLADS.... :ugeek:

These are not as popular as 90%, but I like them better than 40% halves....

Here is a dumb question, if I come across a 73s to 76s how can I tell, I see some at shows are shops so is there a easy test to tell?

The familiar clad grey patina is obvious. Take along a 50c clad and a 50c 40%er when you go to coin shop and compare them to the IKEs. The SILVER shine will be obvious when you do the comparison. :ugeek:
