I found a 1865 3 cent coin today! :P :P :P

Only problem with the coin is that there is green gum on the front and back.

What is the best way to get this off?

Put the coin in your mouth and wait for the gum to soften up. This will get the gum off the coin and you will have some gum to enjoy.

Or just soak in really hot tap water

Freezing might work too

these are just suggestions, proceed at your own risk

I don't know if it works on gum or not,but my local guys will let coins sit in lighter fluid to lift foriegn materials w/o damaging the coin.

Somebody, somewhere, has probably tried that method.

Boiling water fixes alot of coin ills.
