I'm not going to tell you what bought this coin for. . . . too embarrassed. But I feel like I was duped. I shouldn't be so hard on myself. Afterall I've only been buying off of Ebay for almost three years!!!

Of course! Should have known. Thats what I get for pulling the trigger too fast. Thanks.

It would be great if no one else responds to this thread and allows it to slowly fade into oblivion. :(

That would be nice, but since we're all your buddies... ummmm... I think that "fading into oblivion" is unlikely to happen.

After giving this a moment of solemn consideration, maybe we should honor Theo's request.

Those who feel differently about this can go here...

Cheap tuition dude!

As much as I hate to agree with an old woman, Ray is right.

You need to be tortured.

I think we need to create a new verb.

To have screw up an e-bay buy is to have theoed, in the process of screwing up is thoeing. One who is about to screw up an e-bay auction will soon theo.

And to mock someone who makes a mistake is to be Thogied. :)

No you are wrong. The definition needs to be narrowed. One cannot be Thogied for a car wreck, or shooting a hunting partner.

One can only be Thogied if one screws up an e-bay auction(to have theoed).

Boy... you just had to go and make this about politics, didn't ya? Making a mockery of both parties would be... the election process?

If you haven't paid yet, I'd request he cancel the transaction.

Or if worse comes to worse, pay up, and then claim you never got the package and make some BS story to Paypal to get your money back.

E-bay should require that sellers list the ASW or AGW of "bullion"

Well, theo, it could have been worse:

Same seller..
,
Consequently, I constantly have to stop myself from rushing to bid on things after barely scanning the description.

Not only did I pay (and judging from this thread I'm still paying ;) ) I received the coin. I was suspicious when it wasn't marked ".999 silver." And the my heart sunk when it jumped at the magnet like Michael Moore lunging towards a cheeseburger.

Although the subject line was a little vague/misleading the composition of the coin was clearly discussed in the body of the listing. I will need to send it back for a refund less the postage. Lesson learned I guess

Less he be without a auction buying mishap, cast the first stone.
Theo, I have done the same as you. Jump the gun on a what I thought was a 1 gram silver bar. turned out to be copper bar. If I would have read the description, I would have found that out. I taped that copper bar to the computer monitor to remind me that it is best to read the description than the seller feedback before making any decisions. By the way why would they make a 1 gram copper bar?

I was mad at myself a couple of weeks back for bidding on a SP item - however, I got bailed out because someone outbid me at the end! Spot was around $33 at the time and I had bid just under spot on a round where I didn't read the description close enough...apparently neither did the auction winner who saved me a few bucks.

There is SO much SP crap out there............it can happen to anyone.

I don't know if anyone has posted this but sp stands for "specimen state" Example:

SP69 satin-finish coins

Nearly perfect
Satin finish is distinctive from regular coins because the dies are sandblasted with a fine mixture of sand and glass beads
Also called "burnished"
Called SP or "Specimen State"
