I rarely buy silver. This is because I get most of what I acquire through sorting and its hard to beat the price! I made an exception today. I bought some coins from a teller I know. We met at the Burger King to make the transaction. Here's a list of what I bought and what I paid:

Dollars..3.....$50.00

1. 3 Peace dollars

Halves..48.......$425.50

1. 23 Franklins. Various dates
2. 22 Walkers. Various dates
3. 2 Kennedys (90%)
4. 1 Kennedy (40%)

Quarters....$4.00

1. 1 quarter 1951-d

Dimes..48.....$75.00

1. 41 Roos
2. 7 Mercs

PS: I have only given a cursory check for key dates. Will follow up on that.
PPS: I got approx 23.13 ounces silver for approx $23.95 per ounce. I figure I did ok.

Great deal! I wish I had a teller that would do that for me.

Jason, dude, remember marital harmony. I really hope your wife isn't reading over your shoulder

Good work. I guess your teller is starting to become very knowledgeable, since you're already up to around $23/oz melt price. Oh well. Still, it's still better than spot price. :)

This isn't one of my "regular" tellers. About two months ago, I was making the rounds searching for wayward halves, (all of em' not in my pocket are wayward) and during the conversation she mentioned that she had approx two rolls of old halves. Once I was able to determine that they were older than kennedy halves, I offered her $200 per roll in the hopes there might be a key date hid in there.

Ah, OK. Nice! Any luck finding a semi-key or key? For JFK halves, I have never found a 1970, so I had to trade another small-time dealer for it at a coin show. I got a good deal; I gave him some mint state post-2001 halves that he didn't have and he gave me a $2 credit for each one.

Hpmbtt, I did find a 1949-s Franklin. I've got to dust off my "Making the Grade", book and figure out the grade. I'm thinking EF-40 -- AU-50. I'm getting close to having all the Franklins.
