Look for "Strategery Stockpile Silver" bars. Those are the genuine articles.

It's not that I'm looking to find one it's that I'm going to go look at some 90% tomorrow for quite a bit under spot and he has one of the old San Francisco mint bars that looks like the one I posted. I see Apmex has a couple listed for 1800+ geeze

the question is, does he know what it might be worth? Tell him "this is an older bar, I've never seen one like this. I don't know if there's a market for something like this or not, but I'll offer you $xxx.... and you decide what's fair. Remember, you still need to find a buyer for it. When worst comes to worst, it's worth no more than six ounces of silver

Ray, yeah at first he was going to offer it up for spot ummmm can't lose there. He then googled it and saw prices ranging from 1-2k. Just got pictures of it and it looks to have been cleaned/buffed. That's gonna knock it way down...........

Oh and yeah, I do believe it will only be worth what the next guy will pay, now what is that again......??? :) I have in the past, been the guy who ended up paying the highest and losing money. Was just wondering if any of you guys had any experience with these. I do believe I can flip it and make money as I couldn't see keeping a bar that cost 200-250 dollars an ounce........

It's only worth money as a collectible... to collectors... who won't offer squat for it when they find out it's been cleaned buffed. I'd stay away from it myself.

It wouldn't hurt to call up APMEX or the other big dealers to see what they'd be willing to pay for it...and then try to get a discount from their buy price for a cash deal.

Adam, I'm curious, what is the local dealer that you keep threating us with offering for this bar?? :) My only concern is that it's not marked w/ anything. Yes you do have an assay report but no stamps ect= not very much interest IMHO. Could be a very rare bar but the avg. Joe wants 100% undeniable proof.

On side note: I met the guy today and looked at the bar. It looks like somebody took some polishing compound and put in under a buffing wheel (like Doc and his bars). He came down on it and offered 600.00 to sell it. Man I almost bit but I know better. The guys is a very honest guy and just wants it gone to appease his wife (he's a firefighter in Houston). Man I wanted that bar bad, it had a 440 serial number on it too....... I'm thinking there's no way it dosen't at least pull 600.00 on Ebay but then again I can always go slap down some bets at the Casino over in Shreveport :)
