Like some here I put a mark on halves as I search. On 1 half out of each roll I place a "J" with a permanent marker. Since I've just finished my 780th box since I started searching I figure there should be about 39,000 halves out there with my J on them.

Now even I can get frustrated by them sometimes. I crack open a roll, see something that just might be silver, pull it out and not only find that it isn't, but it has my J on it so it has given me false hope before. It looks like my J's are giving someone else real heartburn. The last 3 or 4 weeks I am seeing my J's marked over. This person isn't just using a marker to write over them, but actually taking the time to take a paintbrush, dip it in yellow paint and put a big F.U. over my J. Now it just might be that this person is named something like Fred Underwood and these are his initials, but somehow I doubt it.

I have checked every bank with in a hundred miles around and guess how many boxes I got [NONE NOT ONE]....NONE EVER.

I was marking my halves with a red mark thru kennedys eyes... I have about 5-6000 out there. I have yet to see one back and I go thru about $5000 in halves a week, If you guys see any let me know. Does anyone know "MS" I see those all the time.

Did you really get one of mine? I haven't heard of one making it that far away yet, usually just hear about them from the Southeast.

Nah, she wouldn't do that ----- then again maybe I shouldn't have teased her about trading her in for two 20 year olds when she hit 40.

I only go through $1000 a week and I find about ten different distinct searcher marks each time, someone could write and illustrate a book with all these different markings, documenting the history of searching halves, which is about all they are used for it seems.

I just don't have the energy to write on every single half I search. That's got to be time consuming.

That's the record - first one I've heard of getting out of the Southeast.

I have seen at least one, but I think two of them. If I see another I will post a pic so you can see if it is your handwriting. Most of the ones I see up here either have a "/" or an "X" on it, so the "J" stood out since it was different.

LIke someone mentioned earlier... we should keep a log of pictures with the unique stuff we see... I'll post some later. Including my famous graffiti from the West Coast.
