Keeping up with the Rodebaughs

Since there's so much hype and heat around these little biscuits of silver, I wanted to put something together to help some of the newer folks know just what we're talking about. If someone wants to make this a sticky, that's cool. I'll write what I know, others feel free to chime in, and then Doc can use his super-mod power to make it say whatever he wants.

Serial Series #1- Doc Rodebaugh debuted these on August 1st, 2011. This was the first work that he released to the general public. These were serial numbered, with the first 25 staying within the Roadbaugh Compound  . #26 was released to public in an auction, and was followed shortly after by the release of 14 more to the public, with a total of 49 made, 17 released, and at least one other gifted. Rarely seen on the secondary market.
Image

Serial Series #2 - These are known as "Fatboys", based on the Classic design, but stouter, with a deeper stamp imprint. They are Doc Rodebaugh's most recent release, serial numbered 1-58 causing quite a stir at 00:00 on February 25. 2012, when numbers 16-57 were made available on a first come, first serve basis exclusively at Coppercave.com. (1-15 and 58 were not released) These were sold out by 00:02 and are going for several times spot value on the secondary market.
Image

Serial Series #3 - These are known as "The Miner" and Doc broke out a new stamp for this batch. It appears 20 ingots will stay within the Rodebaugh clan, and the other 80 ingots will be available through http://www.CopperCave.com - for a total run of 100 ingots. This will be the largest run for a serial series for Rodebaugh Bars. The release date and time has been set for Friday, April 27th at Midnight.
Image

Classic Ingots - These are known as "Classics", unsure of the date these were first released. These were not serialized, there are greater than 500 ingots in circulation and there is no limit as to how many will be produced. They are released from time to time from a couple online sources, and occasionally Doc himself, as they are created. These are more polished then the 1st serial series, and debuted a new stamp.

Feel free to add or correct anything that needs fixing! I will add as more (inevitably) comes along.

Not sayin' Doc would counterfeit his own bars, but at $155 ea, this would help keep him honest... ;)

($155 ea is getting very close to what it would take me to loosen up on my bar, a 1/10 gold AGE.)

And it sucks for Doc, but this is like the starving artists selling their works for street value, being "discovered" later, and having their works go up in value x10.

I agree... If someone wants to sell me one for around spot, this would make Doc feel a lot better... :D

I'm cool with it. I like to see folks make money off my ingots. :)

LOL I think he's going to reap the rewards of this, possibly by "Trickle up"... he can basically call his price at this point!

I have a registry for the Fatboys at BS, which I will copy and paste in the OP. I will also start on for the Original Series as well, and if you'd like to be included, let me know - however I will not put you on there without your permission. Many of the names seen here are Bullionstacker names, so if they are not cross-registered here, they may seem unfamiliar.

Just for clarity since you are calling them the first, second, and third series...

The first series was labeled "Serial Series #1" and the Fat Boys were labeled "Serial Series #2." The standard classic ingots, which were born in between, do not have serial numbers or limited production, so they were not labeled with a series number.

I have Fat Boy #21. I'll have to check on which Serial Series #1 number I have...

Do you/can we have numbers for the classic bars without serial numbers? I realize you may still be making them, just wondering how many have been made to date. :)

I also vote for a sticky

We can't keep even the classics in stock. They sell well and people buy them in bulk at the right price. Many have made their way to numerous foreign countries and I always get the question... What's this Rodebaugh bar you have... Never heard of them. They end up buying one or five anyway because they are so unique. Speaking of which... I need a restock doc :D
