Is there a market for Sterling Silver .925 bars or coins from a private mint? Just curious, I see a lot of opportunities around where I am to pick up some sterling kinda cheap and was wondering about getting it made in to bars... But I want to make sure I could sell it when/if the time comes.

Send it to Market Harmony and turn it to 999.

Sterling is not popular for some reason that nobody seems to understand. But I can tell you that it is relatively hard to sell. scrapman1077 will turn it into .999 silver rounds for you.

RGJohn,

Thanks for that, I'll have to see what he would charge to do that...

Appreciated.

.90 silver sells for melt and .925 silver sells for 90% of melt makes sense to me????

.925 is generally scrap jewelry or private maker bars...

.900 is coin silver minted by the govt and has some assurances behind it.

so yes it makes sense.

Same reason a .999 american eagle is worth about $3 more than a random .999 Merry christmas round made by a private mint...

I think mflugher is probably correct. Coins are a known quantity where the others are somewhat suspect. I edited my previous post to correct the handle for scrapman1077.
