It'll make you say, "I remember when you could buy 90% for 10X face" then "11X face" then "25X face"... soon enough, you'll feel old... like the old man that says, "I remember when penny candy was a penny" or "I remember when you could fill your tank for $5"

Pretty soon, we'll all be "old" and remembering when

I already feel old an it's really, really hard not to sell a bunch now.

Out of about 250 lbs of silver. I paid more for the last 50 pounds than the first 200.

It seems like yesterday I was thinking, this silver will someday be $10 oz.

I still have the first four ounces (world mint bars) I bought as a kid at 22.00 per OZ (1980).

After 30 years I can now sell them at a profit!.

Hey, I do remember that $5 tank of gas. And, it was 2 candies for a penny.... The long pretzel sticks were a penny each. :D

Just like I can remember when the only change you spent was ALL SILVER, folks living through these historical times today might remember the final demise of the USD and the collapse of the worldwide financial system. Now, that would be something to tell YOUR grandkids. :o

well for my answer...

both.

plus with the decline of the dollar that 19x face really isnt going to pay my bills like i thought it might.

plus with the direction this country is going.. i dunno - to me this run up in silver is just kind of an eerie feeling.

like this cushy life that so many have been enjoying is about to change...

I was in 7th grade in 1968...a friend told me that the local coin shop was selling circulated Morgan silver dollars for something like $1.65 each. I bicycled over and bought three or four of them. That was a lot of money then.

Another memory, this one about 1970. We were walking in Seattle a few blocks away from the Pike Place Market. We passed by a small coin store. One of the displays in their window was a small cardboard box with 20 or 30 Hungarian 10 Korona (0.098 oz gold) for 8 or 9 dollars each. I asked my father if he would buy me one, and to my surprise he did. I still have it today, and the 10 Korona has been one of my favorite coins ever since.

I don't know what the future holds, but like most people here, I suspect it isn't going to be good. What I do believe is that people who sock away a little silver and gold, ammunition, and food will be better off than people who don't. I also believe that people who keep their skills current, make a habit of reading and learning, and maybe go to night school to pick up new skills, will also be better of than those who do not.

when i purchased i did so with the hope and expectation that the value of what i purchased would increase. and that i was buying protection against the dilution of our dollars. but the world is a lot scarier place today. the increase in the value of my silver is nice but man i didn't expect how gloomy the world would become. I think consumer inflation is right around the corner - we've seem a little of it but its going to get bad soon and really hit the common man. i can remember the jimmy carter years - lines for gas, reducing car trips, trying to economize whereever we could. my dad was in a union and they went out on strike and it was hard for us. I think he was out 3 weeks and then had to go back and got called scab, etc.

If any of you guys, want some seeds to stick in a closet or the back of a fridge, pay for shipping, and I have you covered..... It might be a prudent thing to have around...... If you do PM me about this, list what hardiness zone your in, or how many frost free days. I cant share from my entire collection right now(Im a plant breeder I have more seeds, then most seed banks) but I should be able to give most anyone in the states, a few key things. some of my seed that I can share is a few years old, so its best to grow them out, every few years, but it will still last awhile. and is better then nothing......

Not that long ago (late 1990's) I could fill up my camero for less than $9. Gas was $0.68 a gallon at its lowest. Man that seems so long ago.

I am with you guys, I watch as our fiat gets pummeled and our PM prices jump and contrary to what I though I would have felt, I now have a feeling of a shaky future for me, my family and my country. I keep asking myself what are things going to be like in 1yr, 3yrs, 5yrs, 10 and ect. Never before have I felt that one couldn’t go out and work hard and fulfill the American dream. Now I am beginning to have my doubts. I know there will always be light at the end of the tunnel but how damn far is that tunnel going to be?

Watching silver go up as the dollar falls takes all the fun out of it for me. What ever happen to the predictions of silver going up because of industrial demand?

AL, I agree completely. The value of my labor is being protected by silver, so it's doing its job, but...let's face it, in our society the US Dollar IS MONEY, "even if the quality of the money is very poor" as Ron Paul said. We should all have a very profound interest in seeing the dollar surviving.

Many of us have been saying for a long time that we believe silver is money, and it's obvious that the recent run-ups in price are due to investor interest as opposed to industrial demand. That, to me, is enough to show that silver is still perceived as a monetary metal. But, since the economy is in the toilet, demand for silver industrially will remain weak. China and India will pick up the slack, but it will take time. Almost every household in America owns a cell phone(or several), a TV(or several), a computer(or several), and various other silver-sucking gadgetry. Not the case in the east...yet.
