sorry to beat this dead horse, but since I held onto two sets, I keep track of it. after the initial frenzy, prices went way down. now it seems that there are more graded sets on feebay than originals! I am seeing 69 gradeds going for the same or LESS than ones in original packaging.I would love some thoughts about where these sets can go from some members with more knowledge than me(most everyone) TY..

I've posted roughly this before regarding other "MS69" or "PR69" graded coins:

For newer non-circulating issues the odds of a given coin being AT LEAST MS69 are about 99.9%. Probably higher.

For newer non-circulating issues the odds of a given coin being MS70 are about 25%. Roughly.

Therefore if you have a coin that is graded MS69 it is to be considered, for all normal intents, the LOWEST POSSIBLE NORMAL GRADE.

However, if you have a box that is still in mint packaging then there is a roughly 25% CHANCE that you have an MS70 if it were grade.

And, the original mint packaging does have a "value" also and can even be sold separately from the coins.

Therefore a graded MS69 is the worst of the 3 types of coins out there:

(worst): graded MS69
middle: still in mint packaging
(best): graded MS70

Make sense?

You can buy a PCGS 69 RP, break it out, send it into NGC, and maybe get a 70, or send it back into PCGS and try again as well. I traded an NGC RP70 off and got an extra S coin out of the deal, I'm like get that thing out of here, it had a scratch on it.

To simplify, the two unique coins drive the price, about 250-300 apiece, and more, they make the set, the other three are just along for the ride.

Controversy has arisen regarding the next ASE set devaluing this set, but the 20th annie sets went up in price a little.

I believe the price of these will still drop and settle at a lower level. Same thing it did with the 2006 sets.

I was fortunate enough to get just one set! :) I will be holding on to this for years to come....I wonder what the value would be in 5 years or so?

I picked up 2 sets. Had intended to flip to cover the total cost. I held onto it until just recently. Managed to sell 1 set for enough to cover what I paid for both, plus a couple extra ounces of silver. :D

heh it was at least a wild ride. Took 2 hours of logging in and out of mint website to get confirmed. I also stood in line for 7 hours to get a playstation 2 for $299 and sold it for $500( ahh the goood old days) bet no one here remembers THAT!

I couldn't believe all the sets were sold out in less than 4 hours! Mine is ungraded.

I would be helpful though, if the US Mint improved their website. I heard many people couldn't even log into the site.
