Ebay Bucks...does this work?

Anyone know if this scheme works for Ebay Bucks? Buying or selling under a category other than Bullion titles? I'm thinking of taking it a step farther and selling a mixed lot of a couple of ounces of silver plus, say, a box of pencils or something silly like that. I'm guessing it works until they get wise to it and change their policies again!

I used to see fliers for Penn State football tickets when I was in college advertizing something like "buy my notebook and get free football tickets, $250.00." Never found out if that was a real scalping loophole, or just a bunch of smartass college kids!

Scalping is illegal in some states. So someone trying to sell tickets above face will walk around offering to sell a pen or hot dog or whatever and says they will "throw in" the tickets for free.

^^Yeah, that.
I'm talking about including items in a sale that give you just enough of an excuse to change the listing category to "mixed lots" instead of "silver bullion" or whatever, in order to allow your buyers to earn Ebay Bucks on the sale, since Ebay doesn't offer Bucks on bullion sales.

I usually bid on ASEs under "U.S. Coins" and I get E-bay bucks under that category. A lot of people have caught on to this loophole and list/bid there too. Never any deals as a buyer for me there even with the extra bucks $$

Here's any interesting listing I bid on last night and didn't win:

It's the category that determines ebay bucks eligibility, not the item being sold. There's no reason to add pencils to a silver listing.

But if you put bullion in a non-bullion category you run the risk that it will be overlooked by bullion shoppers. People use different methods for finding items. For example, some browse categories, others search by keywords, and others use a keyword search and then narrow it down using the category matches.

As a seller, you want the maximum price. So you might want to compare closing prices on similar items that were listed in bullion vs non-bullion categories.

At $40.00 that ended up being a heck of a deal for all that junk.

I usually buy junk silver from the U.S. coins category and earn eBay Bucks. Then I use those bucks to buy more junk silver from the same category. It gives you a nice discount!

Just to clarify, here is eBay's official policy on eBay Bucks when it comes to precious metals:

Among other restrictions, purchases made in the following categories DO NOT qualify:

All categories in eBay Motors. But note that Parts & Accessories purchases DO qualify
    Classifieds
    Real Estate
Gift Cards & coupons, but only for eBay Gift Cards within that category
Coins & Paper Money, but only for Bullion within that category
    Business & Industrial

PLEASE NOTE: While eBay Bucks can't be earned on purchases in these categories, the eBay Bucks Certificates can still be used for redemption in these categories. See complete details on redemption.
