I do by looking at the color then if needed date and side check. I can do a bag in just over one hour.

edge check. Don't look at the dates, too straining on the eyes.

Got a $500 bag of rolled dimes a few days ago. Popped open a few rolls to edge check. Everything looked bright, shiny and clad. The problem is they all looked new. Checked all dates and they were all 2010d. Nothing else. Generic white wrappers with standard green lettering. Nothing to indicate these may have been wrapped by mint contractor. Yep, sometimes you should look at dates.

I used to edge check. But I have now found that I can sort faster by running them through my hands and listening. The silver will stand out..

I just dump them through the ryedale.. that is, you need a #22 wheel and your good to go.

when I get a 500 bag,I grab little stacks and edge check...luckily brinks rolls are clear plastic,so you don't even have to crack them to edge sort.Silver really stands out.every dark dirty edged dime that I hoped would be silver has always turned out to be dug clad.If you have silver dimes, select various condition ones and mix them in with a small bowl of clad-you will see how easy it is. as for using a ryedale- sounds great.....IF you have one....I can't really afford one right now. Also,if you get a "better" bag,one where you're pulling what seems like above average silver...its fun to dump a bunch in a tray and train your eye for sorting on sight....in good light,if you have a good eye-you can pull a rosie face up or down-silver just looks different....good luck with that 1000 bag!
