So what's the deal with the San Fransisco Mint?

So what's the deal with the San Fransisco Mint?

I typically see from many websites that products cost just a bit more if it is produced from the San Fransisco mint. I'm just a day shy of my first month of hoarding so I don't know why that is case. Anybody know why?

Lower mintage and/or proofs come from S mint.
