this is really neat video testimony from a Denver Mint foreman, fun stuff.

here's a "moral" question......would sneaking a few of these out be considered 'stealing'?

(i know the answer, but coinaige, or seniorage, is pretty serious business i guess.)

I was laying in bed this morning thinking of this issue and how cool it would be if they had circulated as intended.

So, In this case...Not Stealing........ Numismatic conservation ;)

I figure only a thief or real patriot would have taken a few of those once ordered destroyed. Some of the things our country has done with its coins are simply bizarre.

Previous examples of coins that had been minted only to be destroyed started showing up on the underground scene within twenty years or so - like the '33 double eagle. So, it's coming up on a half century and still no 1964 Peace dollars have come out of the closet. Would tend to make me think maybe none escaped after all.

I wish they would have made millions and millions of them. I'd love to be able to stack them like I do the '64 Ken's.

I tend to agree with you but I still hope someone preserved one.
