What's your silver dime recovery average?

Just looking to see how everyone is doing with regard to finding silver dimes in boxes and bags. I'll start.

So far in 2012 I have searched $44,250 (177 $250 boxes)in dimes, and have found 224 Roosevelt silver dimes, 28 Mercury silver dimes, and 5 Canadian silver dimes. That's a little under 1.5 per $250 box which would equate to about 6 per $1,000 bag.

Obviously I wish my average were higher, but it is still worth it to me.

So how are your dime searches going, and where would your stopping point be if your finds were on the decline?

Nick

104 ($250) Boxes searched this year, 140 silvers. I've stopped dime sorting. I don't know why, but halves are sucking here too. Time to take a break/buy the dip. :D

I stopped tracking dime boxes mid way through April. From January - April (1st 2 weeks of April) I did 170 $250 boxes and 2 $500 coin counter bags and came away with:

5 Canadian
29 Mercury
242 Roosevelt

Seems my avg would be in the 1.58 per $250 searched range.

I think I'm down around 1 per every 2-3 boxes. I also stopped doing dimes because they are hardly worth the time at that rate. I will try to pull more accurate numbers when I get home tonight.

Back when I was still sorting, 1.5 per box was my average.

Three boxes=one dime, not exactly a legitimate sample size though.

Only started with the dime wheel a few months ago, but here is my average: in 32 boxes ($250 each), i've found 49 silvers... that equates to around 1.5 per box. Specifics were 46 roosies, 2 mercs, and 1 canadian (1943). Not convinced it's worth the time, but yet I still consider it fun and love the fleeting thrill any time a silver pops out into the "good" box :) As another poster said... it's a shame I didn't know about this 10 years ago (or more). Then again, no Ryedale back then!
