Partial plate from the sixties.

I have a partial plate that I received back in the sixties when I was unfortunate enough to get four teeth kicked out. This was while I was riding my bike. Ok here goes the metal is shiny like silver however after wearing it for forty years it has retained its luster. Does anyone know what metals were used back then. Looking forward to any help identifying this plate.
