Well I'm just learning about all this coin stuff in order to raise money for my Church for a trip. For more information and to donate please visit: http://www.stjohnsgoshen.com/wyd

Today I looked through probably $200 of coins my brother and my friend had. All I found was many pre 1982 pennies and one silver dime. Their were no silver quarters and most of the coins I looked through were quarters.

You're not going to find silver quarters, they are to obvious. they have been picked over pretty good.

You'll get 1-2 silver dimes per $500 in dimes.

Time's tickin Father! You need to get that rummage sale going. That's where the bucks are. Pick that stuff over real good. People will donate treasure.

Good luck to you Father, I've done the same exercise many times and had zero results. Just two nights ago I took my coins out of my pocket before bed and went to sleep happy as a lark because I found a 1943 nickel. When I woke up and saw it again someone had swapped it for a 1948. I still think my wife was playing a cruel joke. Que serĂ¡,serĂ¡!

Cheers!

We did that already but the money made from that went to another organization or project. I don't think another one will work again so soon.

Well taking a break from a busy day. I was looking through our collection today and found another silver dime! This is an easy way to get more from our donations. Thanks to all who have given me advice on how to look for this stuff.

Maybe you can get congregation to tithe in coins or give a discount at your next rummage sale if one pays with coins only.

LOL While I might not mind looking through coins others who volunteer to count the collection might. I like the idea of asking for loose change. At worst the kids will learn about US coins and US history. So that's an awesome idea thanks.

It might pay to sort through the change in the collection plate. Who knows what you could find?!

I doubt anyone has the balls to put coins in a collection plate.

I have no issues using the collection plate as a zinc dump.

Thats a great idea.

Use your charity as a zinc dump.

It's a win-win!

Take the tax write off you would anyway. if they don't like it, oh well.

Feel free to send us your zincs. Money is money. We do get a small amount of coins in our collection. People throw all kinds of coins in the collection basket. We even get foreign coins.
