Do you order them all from one bank? And what does your find ratio look like? I have yet to find anything in boxes but have done well with loose coins and rolls.

Searching them is the easy part and shouldn't take you more than 2 hours. The X factor is how you dump your coins.

Depending on your method of deposit (even traveling to multiple branches to use coin machines) it shouldn't be hard to be done before 1PM. Dumping bagged coin (which I do not do) is way quicker than having to dump into coin machines.

If your bank is nearby, and you're just dropping off bags of searched coins, the searching and dumping this is a 3 hour endeavor, tops.

i count into bags and deposit the bags; those counters are not so accurate.

The counters are accurate enough for me so that I don't have to show nearly 3/4 of a million dollars a year in deposits and withdrawals.

I weigh my coins before dropping them into a coin counter. I have not yet been shorted with halves. Dimes are the worst though, frequently being counted as pennies.

mtldealer, hopefully you got some silver even if you couldnt hunt dates. Hope it was profitable!

You definitely have to be careful where you dump your dimes. On the bright side, the bad counters for dimes are a great place to buy pennies.

If you open and side check then throw into a bucket for return to a coin counter I bet it could be done with some experience.

There are only 12 boxes there though (600 rolls), that works out to 5 rolls per minute. Doable if you are just cutting them open and side checking. However I don't think I'd want to keep up that pace for long, I find roll hunting an interesting distraction while watching tv or relaxing in some other way. I think If I tried to put out that kind of volume on a regular basis I'd get bored real quick.

The biggest consumtion of time is getting it out of the rolls. I open the box then use gardening shears to snip the tips of the rolls. Then it takes time to open them. I sort $5000 a hour consistently. As far as dumping... I tried dumping at coinstar, it took to much time. Ultimately I drop off on average $7000 on Mon, Wed and Fri and then pick up the same, my bank credits my account right away. So far this year I am just over 750K. At this point though it's becoming more of a job than a hobby.

There was another two boxes not in the picture hence the 14 boxes :-)

What's the best way to figure out the percentages on the boxes? I came up with 2.73% using the scrap value of the silver against the total $ sorted... Is that right?
Any input is appreciated.

I like using the cutting implement and then being able to put it down and move to the next part of the process. I can hold three or four rolls in my hand and open them saving time on picking up and putting down. I feel like the moving back and forth from cutting to tearing is where I lose time. Plus It limits the exposure to sharp objects being in my hand.

Back before I started re-rolling them, I would take a pair of toenail clippers to the top crimp of each one, would not even have to remove them from the box for this part of the process. Next, I would take them out and tear from the cut made with the toenail clippers on the crimp.
