Just thought I'd point out the platinum group metals are outperforming gold at the moment, I was looking into them at $1400/435 respectively, kinda wish I had jumped in now :D

Any thoughts?

Of course the biggest driver for the out performance is the strikes in South Africa. Might be a short opportunity if they get that worked out...

Thoughts and comments?

My only thought is....I don't own either one of those!

Might have to pick up a fractional or something...just to say that I have some!

I have always liked PD. I don't really like PT because its only huge souce of uses comes from the car indudustry.

South Africa riots may be the cause here so this may be a short-term fluctuation.

and jewelry...

much like gold its not good for much except showing people how wealthy you are :D

Some pros to plat ownership...
Platinum is denser than gold. (takes less space)
aprox 15x as rare in natural occurance.
unlike gold it is consumed by some industry on a regular basis. Computers have mg of gold, cars have grams of plat, and that part must be replaced.

Some cons:

Not as well understood by masses/popular
Harder to refine, generally you must allow your dealer a larger discount when selling.
probably overpriced at this time (SA strikes)

Honestly I don't know much at all about Pd, anyone with some wisdom to share would be appreciated :D

Anyone have any thoughts on a paper short play on Plat/PD in the near future?

For stacking I'm gonna stick with gold/silver.
