Just about a year ago on another site I used to frequent I made a list of some coin hunting goals that I wanted to achieve in 2012. They were:

1) Search 1,000 boxes of half dollars.
2) Find a barber dime.
3) Grow my copper cent hoard to 1 ton (currently at 875 pounds).
4) Find a pre 1900 U.S. coin.

After next week's pickups I will only be at 950 half boxes for 2012, so that was a miss. My copper hoard currently stands at 1,625 pounds, so that was a miss. I was able to find 4 pre 1900 Indian head pennies, and an 1871 seated liberty dime, so I did good on that one.

That brings us to the barber dime. Finally after 26 months and 1,291 boxes of dimes, box #1,292 yielded a 1906 barber dime.

The funny thing is, that box #1,293 yielded an 1899 O barber dime. None for almost 1,300 boxes, and then 2 in a row.

Happy holidays to everyone, and I hope 2013 sees everyone reach all their goals.

Nick

Next week's 20 boxes are what gets me to 950.

I had 757 boxes done by the end of July, but there were so many skunks that I decided to back off a bit. Slowing down in September, and taking the whole month of October off (halves only) is what did me in.
