I think this is the tip of the iceberg!

Everyone will want their assets in their homeland!

I think the Chinese will use: The total of our debt we owe them; + all the gold they will accumulate; + all the good will they are devoloping around the world (something we seem to be doing wrong); + their military (to deter us from getting uppity with them because they can) all as leverge to = create a different #1 internationally used currency instead of the U$D. Thus the world to circle around China and her allies/backers instead of U$. Easily prior to 2050 and maybe as early as 2020 or sooner. All depends on how fast we continue to go down the Johnny flusher.

Could someone explain how this works?

If someone has a German gold "mark" what happens?

Are they just requesting you give it back and they will pay a fair market value?

Or is it some sort of international law that you are breaking if you don't give it back?

Not sure what you mean Barry. The context is strictly one of gold London Good Delivery bars owned by the respective governments and/or their central banks, but being held in storage outside their country. They are negotiating the move of those bars back to the turf of their owners.

Barry,
Your gold is yours, and is probably all in your own safe. Their gold (Germany's or Switzerland's or whoever else) is theirs, but is stored mostly in vaults in other countries. Central banks, like the New York Federal Reserve Bank, have vaults which offer to store that gold for those countries.

There was an article in the USA Today about the IRS forcing the Swiss Banks to pay penalties for helping Americans hid accounts and interest.

Probably a coincidence right??

Aide to Ben Bernanke: Uhm, Mr. Bernanke, sir, I've got some good news and some bad news.
Bernanke: What's the bad news?
Aide: Well, Zimbabwe called and they want their gold back?
Bernanke: All of it?
Aide: Yes, sir.
Bernanke: Both ounces?
Aide: Yes, sir.
Bernanke: Yikes, that is bad news! We don't have anywhere near that much stored in our vaults now. Well, what's the good news?
Aide: 99.99% of all US citizens still don't have a clue of how big a Ponzi scheme you've been playing.
Bernanke: Let the good times roll!
