Help On Sample Silver Dime Slabs?

Have been stacking junk and bullion silver for sometime towards our future retirement. Have really never been what some folks call a actual coin collector as I mainly purchase coins for there metal content ie: gold, silver and platinum. Well over the weekend I purchased a group of coins from a older gentleman that had three silver dimes encased in hard plastic slabs. I did a little bit of reasearch online and found very little about these so I was hoping that the coin experts here could chime in and answer a few questions I have about these. First are these silver dimes considered proffesionally graded being the way they have been slabbed as I always thought they had to have a grading companies name on them along with some sort of grade? Second if they are proffesionally graded what would be a fair market value for these as stated earlier I dont actually collect coins of this nature. Third if they are of any value would I be better holding on to them for a while or sell them outright and reinvest the funds back into other forms of precious metals as I have been doing for sometime now. I have included a few pics for viewing and thanks in advance for any help given on these silver coins. Collector66

Welcome to the board....The coin grading companies would slab a coin like this in an effort to promote their business. The coin is silver so it is worth the melt value.

See: www.coinflation.com for the latest value.

The coin is not graded and not really "officially slabbed" since it does not have a serial number for their registry. You can keep it in the holder as a novelty but the slab itself does not give it any more value in my opinion.

Actually I'm pretty sure those slabs are worth like $100+ maybe more as they are very rare and "old" (slabwise) samples.

FYI: Copper Catcher -> sample slabs are almost always worth a pretty decent premium.

They are selling for $100+ on ebay. Look for the ones that have 00000 serial numbers.

Man, I hate to think how many of these we busted up at the semi-annual slab toss I started at my coin club several years ago.
