TRI Electronics gold testers?

Since Santa didn't bring me a gold tester this year I'm going to buy one. I've been looking at the tri electronics GT 3000, GT 4000 and glx pro 24. I'm leaning to the GT 4000. Isn't most gold jewelry 10k to 18k? Even most gold coins are not 24K so I'm thinking a reading of 22k - 24k would be close enough to let you know it's real. All comments welcome.

Buy the best that you can afford. It may be that someday you will come across a piece of supposed 24K and you have no way of testing it... then the price difference between the 2 tools will matter little, but now it may seem like a "savings"
