I have a question about .925 jewelry

I bought a bag of jewelry, most of it marked 925. A few of the chains are marked 925 but stick to a magnet.

Are these bogus or is there possibly a reinforcement wire in the middle?

Anyone know about this?

Either bogus or low purity silver with bad metals mixed in... cadmium, lead, etc. Nasty stuff.

One other thing to consider, where on the chains is it sticking to magnet? Sometimes the chain itself is actually silver/gold....but they clasp is not....

It's ok for some sterling to be magnetic. 92.5% silver and 7.5% iron. Just do an acid test using 18k acid. PM me if you want to buy an acid kit.

This is way ALL the jewelry I get in my trades is assayed before I pay out.
