My bank teller tell me she has silver here the totals

When to the bank Thursday and the head teller tells me that she dump silver halves in the coin counter. This is great and I stated that I would take the bag of halves. Now come the problem the bag is not full so she can't take it off the counter. The bag has about $410 in it and it needs to get to $500 first. I'm trying to get a hundred in halves this weekend. So far only $40 so does mean I need to take silver halves in to fill the bag or wait until I find the regular halves. Any thoughts out there?

Do NOT put any of your own silver in there just to fill the bag. What tellers say is sometimes contradicted by what managers do.

That's just me.

I should add that every Monday for about the last 3 years I go into this bank and buy the coins of the machine for that week. She has been right in the past so I do trust her.

I would bring in your silver halves and speak to the mgr first.. just to make sure there hasn't been a change in policy!

Also.. I would dump them in ONE AT A TIME! It would really suck if you dumped your whole stack in, and the bag was full when your coins were still in the machine!

I would not put silver in the machine. Too much risk! If you have been regularly buying the bags that come off the machine at that bank just tell them that you want to buy that bag when it gets full. Ask them to call you when it gets full and you will come in to get it.

+1. If you are going to do it, this would be the way... but I still wouldn't. It should work theoretically, but it's too risky...

Well I found about 75 dollars in clad so I took that and 20 in silver. I told the teller that that candy would be based on how well she would do. I had her put the silver in first then the clad and then I got the bag from the machine. I took out my silver which was all 40% and I was left with a 48, 3-64 and 33-40%. I will bring them candy on the next trip.

Good job! I'd definitely bring them some quality candy. A nice organic chocolate bar for the head teller too.

The reason I did silver first is because I knew that it would not fill the bag. So then when I dump the clad when it filled the bag I wasn't worry what would go into the next bag.

I was thinking that as I read your post. Solid reasoning.

Nice for you. I had to do that once several years ago. Only thing is, I had to come up with $210 in halves to dump. It was worth it.

Isn't it nice to work with great people!

Congrats on the score, but I think you took a chance I probably would not have taken by putting your own silver in the mix. Again, I'm glad it worked out for you.

I just love the intrigue, suspense and strategy going into all this. Like an old James Bond film with silver as the reward.
I call this tale, Silverfinger!
