I found a coin shop near me. The guy has a small box of world coins and I picked these out @ 5 for a dollar. I bought a Krause book but it's not here yet.
Can anyone tell me if these coins are silver?

1905 half-mark German
1966 VN CVARTO BALBOA- Panama
1951 5 Centavo Domincan Republic

He has some large shoe boxes full of world coins he's willing to sell at 20 cents each and I'm wondering if it's worth it to go to his shop and sort through them.
Thanks for any help.

I haven't dabbled in foreign coins for alot of years but right off the top of my head I think the 1/2 Mark is .900 silver but the Balboa and 5 Centavo are cupro-nickel. It's been a while, so I could be wrong.

Yeah, 1/2 Mark is a little over 0.08 oz ASW - unfortunately 1905 was the highest mintage year (30-some million), so not much in the way of numi premium.

Looks like the 1/2 mark is worth around $2.20 melt value. Many thanks for the help.
