Aluminum is correct. At one time the crown jewels were in a crown made of aluminum.
Prior to 1850, aluminum was worth more than gold. Now instead of selling by the gram, it is sold by the pound. One reason I love silver so much is of its antibacterial properties, healing properties, preservation properties.........putting everything else aside, silver turns me on for how it can be used other than just as a preservation of wealth. It would be awesome if the price went really, really low, I would buy it all!

As for antibacterial properties: Carbon filters for water and air are arugably more effective than silver for industrial purposes, and hundreds of thousands of times cheaper. Copper and nickel alloys can also be antibacterial. I believe that the carbon content in monel makes it antibacterial. Pure nickel is not anti-bacterial, but most copper alloys are.
Copper alloys are not often used when in direct human contact because of odor.
