Been off the forum a while pursuing some education. Over the winter break thought I'd look through some rolls of dimes while binge-watching True Detectives Season 1.

Found 4 Silver Roosies in my first 10,000 dimes, all CWRs.

Now I found this Canadian, a bit tarnished but non magnetic:

It is 80% silver. Great find.

At first I read that as "my first 10,000 dollars" and went

Just found a companion to it in a different box. Hope it's a trend. Odd to find two so closely together when I've only found 1 (50%, '67) Ag Canadian dime before this.

Maybe it's time to go back to that bank and buy out everything they've got!

I picked up a bag of dimes yesterday, hope they yield as good as yours.

I usually just go into a bank and ask to buy 4 boxes.
It's a fun hobby over the break.
I found 4 silver Roosies in my first 4 boxes. Then 2 Canadians in the next set of 4 boxes, with no other silver ones until the last ten rolls of the last box of that set.

Found these two, keeping my average at 1 silver dime /box.




One of my uncles started saving out copper pennies, and I was telling him at a holiday party about the dime hunting. Like I told him, it's not like you make any money for your time doing it by hand with a silver dime being worth $1.19; however, it's fun to do (I find it satisfying as a hobby), and it keeps me occupied in conjunction with watching sports on TV or binge watching some netflix over the holidays.

I've got one more set of 4 boxes to look through, I'll post anything Ag I find up here after I do if you guys are curious.

When I was sorting dimes big time, I think the best finds were the Canadian 80%. So rare to find these, I enjoyed them even more than the Mercs. Over an approximate 4 year period of doing about 8 boxes per week, I think I pulled only about a 1/2 roll of these. There were about five George Vi's and one George V sterling (I think 1916 IIRC) were found. Good times!!!

I have also been buying boxes of dimes at its a great hobby. I've had a few empty boxes but every box that has yielded silver had two in the box. Not one and not three but two Rosie's.

I got the bag of dimes sorted. I got 6 Roos, one silver Canadian and a merc

My wife got me a box of dimes to sort as a present... they were all brand new 2014s... bless her heart... Well it was the thought that counts.

A bit of a crop on the dimes, but 11 silver US dimes.
In the second, 2 silver Canadians pictured with 3 base alloy Swiss 1/2 francs (The 1967 1/2 Swish franc was the last year for Ag, I believe.)

I'll take the francs: While they're no longer a "hard currency", they're still worth about 50 cents.

This was out of $2275 face value, hand sorted over the holidays.
I did a box of quarters also, but, as per the usual, it was a bust on the Ag score.

Thank you. You inspired me to expand. I've also found I get less response from the tellers when I ask for cent, nickels, dimes and quarters than just cents.

I just finished sorting a bag of dimes with my brother and his 8 year old son. We found 13 silvers Roos and 2 mercs including a 1918.

We also found 3 half franks. We looked them up and found out that they were worth 50 cents. My nephew said "I can buy a roll of pennies with them." Smart kid!

That sounds like one bodacious bag!

Just went though a box last night from a bank that I've all but given up on because the last two orders I placed with them all came back 2014-p dimes

Bought 2 more boxes and gave them one more chance because when I first started with them I was yielding some nice silver.

Sorry to hear this. There was supposed to be 2,500 of them.

Grabbed 200 dollars worth of customer rolled dimes at the bank today.. 2 silver roosies

+1 i do waaaaaay better with customer wrapped vs. fed rolls. just got 3 silver dimes out of only $85 face this past friday!

I bought $110 in CWRs today and found a 1957 Roosie.

Last nights dime box yielded 3 Rosie's.

That's the way I felt I was like 9 rolls into the box and I opened and saw that and had to sit back for a while an gaze at it

Franc-ly that seems like an even better payoff than the day you posted it.
