morgans or ASE's

What would you choose? A roll of Morgans 1921D's uncirculated or a roll of ASE's. Now aside from the eagles have more silver, obviously. Which would you choose and why? Is there a benefit of one over the other? A roll of Morgans would be 600.00

The morgans.....hands down.

20 ninety year old coins in BU condition......or 20 BU coins made yesterday.

If silver spot returns to $5 an ounce ases will trade at $7.50 and I would personaly buy those morgans for double that at $15 each all day long.

I agree I would take the Morgans they have a lot of history and numismatic value behind them. The ASE's have neither.

Is China making any 1921 D morgans? take a nice strong magnet to check the coins and maybe a nice HI RES pic of a genuine morgan...better safe than sorry latter.

Don't know about that specific one, but China proudly proclaims the right to counterfeit (duplicate) the historic currency of any country prior to something like 1949.

both of what i suggested is completely possible tomorrow for example. I can understand the idea of morgans and numis, I would agree. If silver keeps going up then I would also say that ASE's may be a better position as if silver goes big, general numi morgans and peace may turn into the pos only.

now what if i said nevermind the BU's.......

Now lets try this. Say i could get all the morgans or peace, all day long at 24-25 dollars. Melt is 23.30 currently. Would you still say ASE's?? Or would you go with the morgans or Peace?

i appreciate the info since this is quite practical.

whatever gives you the most silver per dollar of premium.

either buy numismatics or bullion. if you are buying numismatics, its not the 1921 morgans that will increase in price.

I have a lot of confidence in bullion. I know less about numismatics.

There would be no surcharge from a refiner for ASE's so, to be fair, the premium paid for an ASE vs Morgan or Peace could probably be a few percent more. An international market would seemingly favor ASE's. If silver explodes (as I expect) the numismatic premium will wither commensurately with the extent of the rise of the POS. ASE's will always allow you to get back that small premium you originally paid in that same scenario. How about some of both? Who says you have to pick one or the other? Hunt for bargains, buy ASE's on price dips and dollars with dollar-cost-averaging.

what you all say is what i already know.....seems like i need some sort of push for some morgans, or a push away from them.....i'm stuck on history and the personal attraction to morgans and even peace... but I understand the value of silver, oz, simply put.

I think i'm off the idea of a roll of morgans for 600, bu or otherwise, when a roll of eagles is marginally more dollars but "considerably" more silver. That is with the bu's.

What about the idea of picking up morgans or peace at 24 when eagles are 34 or 10.00 more for ase's....... keeps dragging me back to a better deal or more units with morgan or peace for the same price. There is something about morgan or peace that keeps the premium or the buying and selling price "way" highter or 'more' higher than it should be.....but it is.

Here is your push......I buy ases and think of them as what they are......junk bullion. Just silver nothing more nothing less…..that is all they will ever be. As long as I am alive.

Humm very tough to answer that one for me personally. I usually go buy which is easier to flip/sell if you need to or whatever. Both are by far easy to resell if you need to so.... If your in this for a very long term investment only time will tell which one will hold their premuim/value the best. There are a few different angles to look at as most have discussed already above. I guess what I'm getting at is, what do people buy the most of in general for investement/collectiable purposes? In my experience when it comes to silver any 90%, Morgans, and ASE...so when all else fails buy what you like the most. That will most likely make you more comfortable with your purchase and leave you satisfied?

Exactly 8-)

if you buy in quantity, ASE's go for about $2.50 over spot. Since morgans have only .76 ounces, to be on par the premium would be $1.90. Or if you could get morgans for $2 over spot, then the comparison with ASE's would be $2.63.

A few years ago, it was hard to get morgans or peace for only $2 over. with silver so high now its a little easier.

so as long as you dont pay too much over face i think you are ok.

silver dollars are sort of like $2 bills - folks have an emotional attachment to them above what they are worth.

I'd say 20% ASE's 80% Morgans. I think morgans are so much cooler and have the numismatic value. Also if tyhe economy collapses you will need some easily recognizable silver before the common person recognizes ASE's. watch this guys video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrX3qjgy ... re=feedlik he has a few other great vids too you should check out.
