What value would you put on this Colombia 1968 Pope Paul VI Gold Proof 5-Coin Set and how would you go about selling it?
I calculate that it has 3.235 grams pure gold, which is about $4,340 at spot.
I have the opportunity to buy this but it seems like a fairly illiquid set. Who buys these things?
Colombia 1968 Pope Paul VI Gold Proof 5-Coin Set
This coin commemorates the International Eucharistic Congress and Pope Paul VI. This 5 coin set consists of: 100 Peso weighing 4.300 grams of .900 fine gold, 200 Peso weighting 8.600 grams, 300 Peso weighing 12.900 grams, 500 Peso weighing 21.500 grams, and a huge 1500 Peso, weighing in at 64.50 grams. Displayed in the original 1968 presentation box. Despite the mintage of 8000 sets, not too many appear on the market, so possibly some were melted. This Columbian Gold Pope Proof Set represents an excellent value in the world of Gold Pope Coins.
