If you're planning to buy some gold, recent weakness might be the entry point you've been waiting for.

If this were a blanket pattern then the price would go up every week, and every day you that don't buy you're losing out on a better deal than you'll ever see again, except for a slight pullback every Thursday

That was true up until a few months before this article was written.

The article being a few years old, the pattern might look differently today since it's been mostly downhill since then, but if the bull market has resumed, and I think it has, then it ought to still hold water as long as we're not in a bear market, and possibly even regardless of that without crunching the numbers.

It hasn't always worked out for me, although it has been worth it, but I mostly only buy any decent amount when there's blood in the streets. Otherwise for DCA, I suppose buying on Monday sounds good. Fortune favors the bold right? And on Monday, you have no idea what the week will hold!

ed steer used to post the research of a guy who figured out the time of day to buy sell. i think he concluded that the price rose over night and slammed during the daytime in nyc. this guy runs a research shop and had the data going back a decade to prove this.

If anyone runs across that link, please post it. I'm basing some paper trading upon manipulation patterns that are quite apparent... to the discerning eye. :shifty:

Thx! Per the link below, an overwhelming amount of price manipulation occurs during a very narrow window. Knowing this
in advance can help one with market decisions.

there were also some articles citing this guy's research on ZH. in one example, they constructed a portfolio that bought gold at the close and sold at the open, and it substantially outperformed. the theory is that the manipulators work on eastern standard time. its a few years old but worth googling. the corrolary is if you are buying phyz, wait until late in the afternoon and if you are selling then lock your price early in the a.m.
