Marks on Kennedy Coins

Hi All,
I am sorting my first box of Kennedys. The box was sealed and all the coins are rolled in white and brown machine-rolled wrappers. Several of the rolls have one coin marked across the face or reverse side with red or purple permanent markers. Does anyone on this website do that with your sorted halves? I'm 60% done and have found only clad coins so far. I know that the good coins are elusive, but I do wonder if this box contains the rejects from one of you. Please let me know. Thanks,

Alot of folks either mark the rolls they turn in or mark coins. I mark a black "J" on Kennedy's face on 1 out of 20 that I turn back in.

I've seen a lot of red marks on Kennedy halves in my area of texas, haven't done any from SA. area(Maybe a gypsy sorter or coins). I don't mark mine, as I only do a few boxes a month. Mostly skunks, but sometimes you hit a silver streak. Just don't ever know so that is why it seems like a type of prospecting/mining. The silver is out there--stay sortin.

I've found quite a few with orange fluorescent paint on the edges.

Did another box today. Nothing but skunks so far, but I know it's too early to quit now. Thanks for the encouragement.

Oh, that means they are all hazardous material. You should just send them to me without sorting and I'll take care of them for you. No charge for the disposal either.

Thanks for the generous offer!
But I already gave them to the bank. I wondered why the tellers were wearing those weird yellow suits and big thick gloves...

good for you on your first box....dont be discouraged on the skunks the silver will show. There are lots of searcher marks, I have at least 26 different marks here in Houston. I get my silver in the boxes that have alot of searcher marks. Keep at it.

Definitely will keep searching. What's the alternative? Sit around and do nothing? I'm from Houston. Now in San Antonio. There seems to be a lot of us in TX. Texas rules!

Thanks!

No need to thank me. That's just how I roll. Well, actually...unroll. I unroll coins. It's what I do.

Hmm...sounds familiar, I believe I might have seen JFK with a black eye ear up here in Indiana. So you're the loser who's been dumping where I pick up!
Or not...

I have seen red, blue and black "ear" marks here in Houston. The black mark is predominant. But the red slash on the obverse is THE predominant mark I see. most tasteless mark I have seen is the red bullseye on JFK's neck.
