Silver at 11 year high

$32.58 is highest since 2013 I believe.

Still a ways to go to reach its all-time high of $49.45, which was the metal’s price on January 18, 1980. In 2011, silver bullion traded at $48.70/oz, nearly eclipsing the 1980 record and setting a decades-long all-time high.

Silver just hit $33.60, perhaps $30 really is the new bottom for silver...we shall see!

TOTALLY AGREE with this. That said, don’t expect it to fly to $50 in 2-3 days.

Now I have to admit that I made a stupid mistake trading SLV (the silver ETF) in the stock market on Friday.

I placed an order to SHORT SLV (betting silver would go down) back on October 4th. I meant for the order to be just for that one day, but was rushing and made the order Good Til Cancelled (good for up to 180 days). Sure enough the order filled on 10/18. OOPS!

At Friday’s close I was down $280 on 400 shares. I came nowhere close to “shooting my wad” and have wiggled my way out of LITERALLY THOUSANDS of losses before- some in the neighborhood of $10-20k. So I’m not overly concerned and have room to short more shares probably 2-3 more times before becoming more concerned.

I’m not a fan of cutting losses when they are small because that’s a great way to lose money on 60-75% of your trades. I say this as someone with tons of experience- see my resume below.

Still, it was a dumb mistake.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.
