No gemstone expert, but from the little I do know, from what I can tell of the size of the diamond it seems to be something like 10 points, and probably of marginal quality. My wifes ring uses similar stones just for decoration around the major ones. The resale value of the stone in this, even if its a diamond, will be marginal. Most jewelers don't even want to mess with them. Value will mostly be in the gold, I think.

1/5 of an oz = 6.22 grams x 1460 (Current price of gold) / 74.8 = 121.40 melt.. you then have to subtract the weight of the diamond and the onyx... then you must figure that the dealer sells for 95% of spot. so then you have to figure in a profit for the dealer say 20%..
(Its early and I could have messed this up)

yep my numbers have me right about there as well.

A safe and profitable buy on this piece w/ stones in place is $85. W/o stones a more accurate weight could be obtained and a closer to melt offer could be made.
