Has this happened to you?

Okay, so I got my regular ten boxes of halves from the bank. I noticed as I was putting them in the car that they were taped differently. Extra tape, kinda sloppy. Got home, open first box. Every roll had been opened and not too expertly rerolled. No silver. Edges attempted to be tamped down but obviously not machine-rolled. So I counted, and out of ten boxes, seven are like this. Haven't opened the others yet but expect them all to be skunks. Wondering how to approach bank about this. I can't explain what I'm doing for fear of risk of being cut off. I think that I'll take back a box intact the way it was received and open it in front of them, then complain that they are delivering product that has been "tampered" with. I have no way of knowing upon receipt that the count is for a full $500. I think that might do it. This has to mean that the couriers are opening boxes and searching the contents enroute from the main facility to the branch banks. Anyone else running into this? I would like to have know what was in those seven duds... as the other three were pretty good... 4 90% and 25 40%.

Had that happen before. What I suspect happens is that another searcher in your area is doing this. They then return the box to another bank who in turn gives it to the carrier. The carriers are too lazy to take it back and verify it so they just take it on to the next bank who ordered halves. The other thing this might signify is how tight the supply of halves in your area is currently. This sucks as you get stuck with someone elses dumps. Ask your bank to speak to the carrier and request only sealed boxes.

Hasn't happened to me but, I'm not sure you can do much about it- I agree it's probably just someone else's dumps but I think you're at the mercy of the carrier your bank uses. On the other hand, can't hurt to ask them about getting only machine rolled coins.

I had a box of halves that had the outer cardboard taped together, but the rolls themselves were untampered with. I opened that box in front of the teller to make sure all the rolls were there.

Hey ya Ray!

never happened to me, but only becoz i dont sort/search, but that is a really good bit of antedoctal info you shared, and just underlines to me the inherent strength of silver. i prefer hearing the "small" stories to buttress the directional. i am sorry that happened to you bud.
it all boils down to greed and lack of fidelity.

let me ask you a "has this ever happened to you" question?

You ever get into a mood where you just cant stop buying silver?....of course the only thing holding one back is resources available.

i got into a mood like that last night...cant explain it either, just slashed and burned, got some nice proof rolls, and actually picked up my first Brown Ike roll, which i'm excited about, because i always admired President Eisenhower, and then this morning watched the market trade slow, steady and strong. You could see them throwing the kitchen sink at it, but it didnt matter, silver is going higher.

After a few years of nagging, i finally got two of my closet friends into the ASE roll habit. At first, i thought, "oh oh, this might be a contrary indicator".....a warning that we're topping for the short term, but these lads were buying at 33, and 38's, so no worries.

i mean, yeh...plenty of worries, on the large scale, but as far as leading friends astray...no, when i unspooled the "currency insurance" to them, i saw my friends grasp that important concept, which was good.

your freind, neil

ok, so this if officially freaking weird. The other seven obviously "searched and dumped" boxes? Two skunks so far and, get this, two of them contained two 40's each. WTH?
