Silver Score at the Beach (pawn shop)

So a quick beach get away with Mrs. Rodebaugh was past due. We packed our luggage (Wal-mart plastic bags) and headed 8 hours south to Topsail, NC. Metal detected my butt off, ate blue crabs 3 meals a day, didn’t allow any Bud light to reach room temperature, and of course hit the pawn shops. Back in the mountains again, thank the good lord, and thought I would share this buy I made with you folks.

Of course I asked.......Do you have any more coins?

Great score. But think of the poor person the pawn shop bought those off, he must have really got ripped off.

Hi there, the English coin, can't see looks like a shilling, isn't silver, it's only pre 1947 or 1946 and earlier that are .500 silver.

I had to look that up too.

None the less, he is way ahead. He can give the coin to one of his child patients for being brave at the dentist office.

What he's leaving out is he paid $200 to get the metal detector and then didn't find anything with it.

Doc has found some pretty amazing stuff with his metal detector. Check out the metal detecting thread in the Tracking Forum.

The patients are starting to get annoyed with him when they sit down and he immediately wands their mouths, looking for gold fillings. So far, in just the last seven patients, he was able to find three balls of tobaccey, some partially digested beef jerky firmly adhered to gums, fifteen teeth, and one insect as yet unidentified. But he hangs tough, knowing that there has to be a BU Morgan in there somewhere, sooner or later!

No Joke on this one folks:

A patient comes in saying "my gums are hurting Doc, real bad, can you take a look?"
I fished around a bit and pull out a sprouted tomato seed. "thanks doc that feels much better"

still haven't paid for that detector yet.....not far from it though.
